Theories of Change
Participatory training for understanding and developing strategies for change
Empowering change through collective action
This participatory course is designed for professionals, businesses, and individuals dedicated to developing socially-engaged, empowering practices within their organizations and communities. It goes beyond traditional frameworks by emphasizing the importance of critical consciousness, collaboration, and collective action in driving meaningful change. Participants will explore various theories of change, learning how to apply these concepts to create transformative practices that are not only effective but also ethically grounded.
The course will cover a range of topics, including the conceptual foundations of theories of change, the role of power in shaping social structures, and the importance of participatory processes in developing and implementing strategies for change. Through a blend of theoretical discussions and practical exercises, participants will gain a deep understanding of how to design and implement change initiatives that are both inclusive and impactful.
One of the core components of this course is its focus on the co-creation of knowledge. Drawing on Freire’s belief in the power of dialogue and reflection, participants will engage in critical discussions that challenge conventional approaches to change and encourage the development of innovative solutions. This collaborative process will be facilitated in an environment that encourages mutual learning and respect.
Participants will also be encouraged to reflect on their own experiences and contexts, identifying the unique challenges and opportunities they face in their work. By doing so, they will learn how to tailor theories of change to suit their specific needs, ensuring that the strategies they develop are both relevant and sustainable. The sessions will highlight the importance of accountability and ethical responsibility in change processes, emphasizing the need for ongoing reflection and adaptation.
